Post-Treatment Instructions for Botox/Dysport

  • • For the first four hours after your Botox or Dysport treatment, please refrain from the following:

    • Do not touch, rub, or massage the treated areas. This includes avoiding facials, massages, or eyebrow grooming.

    • Avoid exercise, heavy lifting, or lying down.

    • Do not apply makeup to the treated areas.

    • Avoid wearing tight-fitting hats, including bike helmets.

  • • Small bumps, redness, or marks at the injection sites are normal and usually resolve within an hour.

    • Some patients may experience a mild headache for the first few days as the muscles relax. This can be managed with Tylenol if needed.

    • Bruising may occur and will resolve like any other bruise. Please note that blood thinners, anti-inflammatories, ASA, ibuprofen, certain vitamins, and alcohol can increase your risk of bruising.

    • Mild tenderness at the injection site can last a few days.

  • • Botox or Dysport typically begins to work within 3–5 days, with full effects developing by 14 days after treatment.

    • Wait 12–14 days before considering any touchups, as certain muscle groups may respond more quickly than others.

    • If this is your first treatment, we recommend booking a 2-week follow-up appointment at the time of your visit.

  • • Botox is a temporary treatment, lasting on average 3–4 months. Some wrinkles may start to return after 2 months, especially in areas like the upper forehead and lip lines.

    • Botox works only on lines and wrinkles caused by muscle contraction.

    • Deep, etched-in lines may require three or more consecutive treatments (every three months) for improvement, and in some cases, the addition of fillers or resurfacing lasers may be recommended.

Post-Treatment Instructions for Dermal Fillers

  • • Keep hair away from the treated area for several hours and avoid touching the skin.

    • Do not apply cosmetics (especially lipstick after lip enhancement) for 24 hours. If you must use makeup, ensure all applicators are very clean.

    • Avoid dental procedures for two weeks before and after your injection.

    • Do not re-inject treatment areas within two weeks of the initial procedure.

    • Avoid exercise for 24 hours post-treatment.

    • Steer clear of extreme heat such as lasers, saunas, hot tubs, and tanning for two weeks.

    • Do not sleep directly on your face or apply pressure to injected areas.

    • Treatment should not be undertaken if you are ill or have recently received a vaccine.

  • • It is normal to experience slight redness, swelling, asymmetry, tenderness, or itching in the treated area immediately after your procedure.

    These effects usually disappear within a few days. If symptoms persist or you notice other reactions, please contact us.

    • Filler may feel firm to the touch but will soften and settle within two weeks.

    If you notice a visible bump, you can gently massage the area. If the bump remains after two weeks or appears weeks later, contact us for reassessment.

    • If you have a history of cold sores, needle punctures could trigger an outbreak. A prescription can be provided if needed.

    • Bruising is common, especially with lip fillers. Bruising typically resolves in 7–10 days.

    Arnica and cool compresses may help. Blood thinners, anti-inflammatories, aspirin, ibuprofen, certain vitamins, and alcohol can increase your risk of bruising.

    • Please contact us immediately if you experience severe or increasing pain, blisters, red, hot, or inflamed skin, discoloured blotches in areas not injected, or blanching (white appearance) of injected areas.
